My Experience

During 15 years prosecuting healthcare fraud cases for the Texas Attorney General’s Office Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, I participated in its expansion into a full investigative unit; oversaw the adoption and amendment of the Texas healthcare fraud statute; assisted in false claims act qui tam cases; and personally prosecuted doctors, dentists, psychologists, ambulance company owners, and other providers who billed Medicare and/or Medicaid. While at the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, I observed their investigations, coordinated with the Texas Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, collaborated with the FBI, worked closely with several MCO’s, and regularly assisted DA’s offices in numerous healthcare fraud prosecutions.

My experience has given me an intimate understanding of the processes, policies, and practices of the players involved in healthcare fraud investigations. And, their weaknesses.

Board Certified in Criminal Law since 1995, having clerked for two judges at the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, I provided criminal defense services in Travis County for over a decade before choosing to prosecute healthcare fraud. Now I want to help you, the attorney.
